How do I request a connection with Expedia?

Sync with Expedia | Connect Expedia | List your property on Expedia

Written by Adriana Silva

AvaiBook is integrated with Expedia via an XML connection, allowing you to keep your property's availability, prices and restrictions synchronized.

Below, we explain step by step how to set up the connection correctly.

Steps to request the connection from Expedia

You can request the connection in two ways:

Option 1: Through your Expedia Account Manager

Contact your Account Manager and ask them to submit a connection request with AvaiBook as your connectivity provider.

Option 2: From the Expedia extranet

  1. Log in to your Expedia extranet.

  2. Go to Rooms and Rates > Connectivity Settings.

  3. Select AvaiBook as your connectivity provider and select the options indicated by Expedia, making sure to include Availability/Rates and Reservations.

Once you have submitted the connection request through Expedia, we recommend contacting our Support team and providing your Expedia property ID to help speed up the process, as AvaiBook will be responsible for completing the connection.

This allows us to ensure that the synchronization is completed correctly and as quickly as possible.

Redirect from Expedia to Vrbo during the registration process

If, while registering a property on Expedia, you are automatically redirected to Vrbo, this is usually due to Expedia Group's internal classification criteria based on the type of property.

Expedia's main channel is primarily aimed at hotels and properties with characteristics more closely aligned with the hotel sector.

For this reason, some vacation rentals, tourist apartments or other short-term rental properties may not currently meet the criteria required to register directly with Expedia.

In these cases, Expedia Group redirects the registration process to Vrbo, its platform specializing in vacation rentals.

Therefore, if Expedia automatically redirects your registration to Vrbo, this means that, according to Expedia Group's current criteria, the property should be marketed through Vrbo rather than through Expedia's main channel.

Although the property may still gain visibility within the Expedia Group ecosystem in certain search contexts, the property's registration and direct distribution will be managed through Vrbo.
