If reservation dates are not showing correctly on portals such as Airbnb, Booking.com, or other channels, don’t worry. This is usually related to how availability synchronization works between platforms.
In AvaiBook, when we receive a reservation from a portal, we update your calendar and send the information to connected platforms in order to block the reserved dates.
However, there are situations where these dates are not updated immediately on all portals, so it is important to understand why this happens and how to solve it.
Why can portals take time to update reserved dates?
Sometimes, even though the reservation already exists in AvaiBook, portals may take longer than usual to reflect the blocked dates.
This can happen because:
Synchronization depends on the type of connection you have with each portal.
Portals using iCal synchronization do not update availability instantly. Each portal processes the information sent by AvaiBook according to its own internal refresh timing, which may cause delays in updating dates.
In some exceptional cases, portals connected via XML may also experience longer delays when updating availability. Although uncommon, these temporary issues can affect synchronization.
Sometimes, dates may not be blocked correctly due to previous conflicts or calendar configuration issues.
📌 Important information about iCal synchronization in AvaiBook
iCal synchronization works as an information exchange chain between AvaiBook and connected portals.
Every 30 minutes, AvaiBook sends your calendar information to a shared cloud, where portals can retrieve the data according to their own synchronization frequency, which we do not directly control.
This process works both ways:
portals can send information to the cloud,
and AvaiBook retrieves that information to update your calendar.
This helps keep availability as accurate as possible, although update speed depends on each portal’s own internal system.
In short:
AvaiBook sends and retrieves iCal information every 30 minutes, but each portal decides when to process and apply those updates, which may cause small delays.
What is actually updated on portals?
In most cases:
✅ Availability is updated (reserved dates appear as unavailable)
❌ Full reservation details are not transferred (guest name, reservation amount, etc.)
This means the dates should still be blocked, preventing other guests from booking the same period.
What can you do to ensure the dates are updated correctly?
Verify that the reservation dates are correctly blocked in your AvaiBook calendar.
Check the connection type for each portal and make sure it is active.
Wait a few minutes and check whether the dates have updated on the portals.
If the issue persists, contact support.
