Why has the amount for my reservation been held, and what can I do?

In some cases, banks perform an additional verification of certain transactions to ensure the security of their customers (travellers) and confirm that the payment is not fraudulent. When this happens, the amount of the reservation may be temporarily held (for up to 40 days) while the bank completes the verification.

In other situations, the bank may automatically request a refund of the transaction if it detects a potential fraud (known as a chargeback or payment reversal). In these cases, the guest usually receives the amount back on their card —although processing times may vary depending on the issuing bank—.
