If you have our Booking Engine with integrated Payment Gateway you have nothing to worry about. We have implemented all the necessary adaptations for the entry into force of PSD2/SCA:
We get a "smart" SCA authentication at the time of booking. It is important that SCA authentication (3DS2) is only performed when it is essential and to achieve this, AvaiBook's Booking Engine + Payment Gateway suite works intelligently by identifying when a payer is or is not affected by PSD2, and when it can be considered within an exclusion/exception so that you have a higher conversion rate in the booking engine and reduce abandonment in the engine.
If your booking engine is not prepared, you are at a disadvantage to OTAs. If the traveller encounters difficulties in booking, they are one click away from booking through another channel - something that is more expensive and inconvenient for you. OTAs focus on the conversion of each visit and are very aware of this type of "smart" optimisation.
You have the AvaiBook payment gateway for " non-presential payments ". These payments after SCA authentication (made at the time of the booking) are so that you can charge a deposit of the booking on a specific date (payment plan), so that you can charge a no-show, a cancellation penalty, or certain extra fees (cleaning).
In order to be able to operate these "post-payment" SCA authentication:
- The system has to have authenticated (with SCA) the cardholder at the time of booking, has to have presented the payment plan and the conditions under which all these charges you may need to make afterwards are supported.
-In case you have scheduled subsequent charges, you want to make a charge f or no show or extra fees, AvaiBook will issue a charge order to the traveller's card already authenticated through the so-called MIT exceptions. This way you can continue to enjoy the advantages of the automation of AvaiBook's payment gateway and you will not be forced to make all these charges in person when the traveller arrives at the accommodation, which will not allow you to automate and scale your business.
